I thought being a nanny was temporary. Something to hold me over until I found a teaching job...
“Don’t mind my glasses, I have a big scratch on them and haven’t gotten them fixed yet.” I’m paraphrasing, a bit, but this was the first thing a mom said to me as she opened the front door to their home.
I'd recently graduated with my Masters in English Education. Unfortunately, I graduated during a teaching bubble. Too many new teachers entering a field with not enough jobs. I needed to work. So I replied to a faculty member’s job post looking for a summer nanny. I babysat all through high school, I liked working with kids, I needed money, this was perfect and temporary…
12 years later I have nannied and babysat for dozens upon dozens of families. Some for years and others once or twice. The day I walked through that threshold, trying not to notice the scratch on her glasses, was the day I changed the trajectory of my career. I fell head over heels in love with my work as a nanny and babysitter.
Eventually I started to notice how hard it was for family's to find quality child care providers.
Babysitters and nannies they trusted to come into their homes and care for their children. Who were reliable and knowledgeable.

I was getting booked over and over again. My phone would light up during busy parts of the school year with families in need of childcare.
I began to recognize what an honor it was everytime a family hired me.

It wasn't until my own son arrived into the world that I truly understood what it meant to leave your child in the care of another person.
Parents need support when it comes to finding and hiring childcare. It can feel like a really overwhelming and anxious process. Especially as a first time parent. In an effort to bridge that information gap between babysitters/nannies and parents- I started sharing about childcare online.
Sharing tips and advice from my experiences working as a nanny and babysitter with the perspective of a parent.
In the Spring of 2023 I realized I wanted to expand my impact.
Parents need AND deserve peace of mind when it comes to childcare. It's not just enough to provide parents with the information and access to 1:1 consultations. There's a need to teach future nannies and babysitters how to become highly sought after providers. Through the Babysitting Workshop I teach the skills I honed over my years in the field. From all the things I did oh so right to all the times I said "oh shit." If you can think up a situation I babysat or nannied my way through it.
Whether you're a parent looking for support in their childcare journey or someone who wants to elevate their babysitting/nanny skills; you have landed in the right place. And, I'm really freakin' happy that you're here.
